Review by: Bruce AustinFoxtrott 2.7
This is my first ever balsa kit build!
I have only been flying foamies, since I entered this gliding hobby six years ago, and I have enjoyed flying off the edge of the Chilterns with the Red Kites so very much.
I thought that maybe it was time to fly something a wee bit lighter, with an even bigger wingspan.
I spotted the Foxtrott 2.7 on the HyperFlight website.
Thanks to Neil for the build links, and to the Guys on RC Groups who have been building Sambas and Puritos from the same "stable". I studied these and decided that now was the time to try my hand at building something that might give even more performance than my Foamies!
I liked the look of the substantial D box construction. So Order placed.
Neil does an absolutely wonderful Packing box job, and in a couple of days the kit arrived.
The Kit was totally complete. The precision cutting is amazing, as has been mentioned by others.
There's lots of separate packs of different sections and small components.
Never having tackled a Balsa build before, I was absolutely amazed at the detail in the full size building plans.
My pinning board was ready. I decided to make a start with the centre wing section. laid out the plan, and covered it in clear plastic.
I started by laying out the various components over the plan, and searching out the various bundles for the matching detailed dimensions. These detailed dimensions and my digital vernier soon sorted out what went where. My nervousness soon disappeared. There was a place for everything and everything went into place. Full marks to the CNC cutting programmers, and to those who put together those little bundles of related items.
I was advised to take my time and check everything at least twice. Also advised that if it doesn't fit then it's not the right piece! Well, my build is still far from complete, but shows lots of promise.
I selected the Foxtrott 2.7 because it has ailerons as well as the rudder elevator and central spoiler.
I recommend this model from Hyperflight, for anyone thinking about a balsa build glider, or electric assisted glider.
Yes, the manual and the drawings are in German, but with google translate, and an awareness of the correct basic AERO parts terminology, anyone should be able to build this kit.
Thank you Neil for sourcing, and stocking this kit.

Follow on from previous review. I have been flying gliders for many years and all my trimming and adjustments have been in the air. For this model take note of the throws at the end of the manual . If like me you adjust in the air be warned it will not respond as you think. Once setup great model for those quiet days on a flat field.

Wacht inmiddels anderhalve week op het model, zal wel 2 weken levertijd worden

1st off I marked it down one star as my kit came incomplete. 1. I only received a manual for the body and tail no details for the wing. I did source a complete manual which Neil has put on his site. 2. I had full plans for the wings but no full size plan for the body (which would have been handy for shaping) 3. Some small parts were missing (some dowel and a couple of small rods and connectors) these I had in my workshop so no problem. Having said the above I received in my kit some parts that were not part of this kit.
All though it sounds like I am disappointed far from it the plane is nearly finished and looks really good.
One thing I would say is that if you are not ok or this is your first build this Not an easy build Google translate from German is not the best read. If you can build from a plan only you will have no problem.

Thanks for the fast next day service in these trying times. As others have said kit well packaged and contents look excelant. Have a project on the go at the moment but can't wait to start.... Thanks again...
Review by: MaxVery good kit, but .....
Perfectly model to build. Unfortunately, the kit only includes an illustrated building manual in German. For model builders who do not speak the German language, the not always easy structure should cause some problems. (I was born in Switzerland and went to school, the German language is not a problem for me.)
