This is a very good kit - high end dlgs cost twice as much but this is a great alternative if you’re not interested in competition. This is the second one I’ve had. AUW is close to 330g but you can still catch a nice thermal. I would recommend it. I make the canopy opening a bit larger than stock and use a throwing blade instead of the pin. I also use pull-spring instead of the pushrods that come with the kit. All in all, it launches and flies great considering the price! Hyperflight service was great - shipped fast to US.

Instructions need attention, canopy opening is to small, not a big fan of the launch pin @ one inch from tip of wing, should be at very end of wing with a nice conformed piece instead of drilling hole in wing for glued in tube... would really like to have wings of carbon fiber but understand cost...after assembly flies awesome and love the plane

Love this DLG!!! Like other reviews say, directions are not thorough enough for first time builders but using other DLG instructions on the web I was able to piece it together in about a week and a half. Shipped really fast to CT USA from UK in about 4 days but would have appreciated another strip of carbon fiber and a little more care with parts packaging sincemy rudder servo horn snapped from its molding but luckily still in one piece. Make sure you use a thin finishing resin like bob Smith's 20min. I used 30min at first and didn't thin it with nearly enough alcohol so it came out thick heavy and rough. Some pictures would have went a LONG way in the ease of building even a reference pic of the completed plane was not included but overall I'm very happy with the performance and appearance, just don't expect to be airborn for at least a week unless you know what you're doing.

This was a replacement for my venerable and much repaired Longshot 1. As usual service from Hyperflight was excellent. I reused much of the gear from my old model. Hitec 65MG in the wings and Hitec 55 's in the fuselage.
Assembly presented one or two problems. Aligning the tailplane mount square with the tail boom and holding it in place whilst the epoxy set was difficult.
The main difficulties came with the tailplane pushrods. I found it very difficult to cyano the outer accurately to the inside of the pod in order to support them between the servos and the exit to the tail boom. At the tailplane end I fitted a fine wire z bend with heat shrink and cyano. At the servo I threaded the wire inner through a hole in the servo arm and then secured it with a small self tapper on the opposite side of the output arm. This gave some adjustment and was compact. All up weight 326gm. Now for test flights

Bought one about 2 years ago as my first full sized DLG. Built it topdrive and pull-springs. Steep learning curve for both building and flying it. By now called "Patches..."
Although I will probably not replace it now if I were to lose it, it was one of the best buys I ever made. Magnificent 1st 1,5m DLG.

Very pleased with the kit and assembly is progressing well. One of your recommended receivers is the Spectrum 6100e. On the spec for the receiver it states not suitable for Carbon fusalages. I presume the Longshot fus is a carbon/glass composite and the 6100e is ok.Do you recommend poking the short aerials through the sides of the fuselage.

Model arrived the next day, excellent service. The Longshot 4 is of excellent quality and as a newcomer to Discuss Launch Gliders it was recommended to me and has not disappointed. The build if you are used to ARTF models may be a little more intimidating than anticipated however there are many building threads on the internet available for this model which I found a great help. If you are looking for your first proper DLG I would recommend the Longshot -4 the quality is excellent and it was a pleasure to build. Highly recommended for newcomers to DLG. Thanks to BARCS members for all the advice and help in choosing this model.

Service from Hyperflight was excellent …shipped out within 24 hours via TNT…very professional courier service. Had the package cleared and delivered to me within 6 days which is incredible for a parcel to South Africa. Plane and accessories exceptional well packed and protected.
I have only just started building….quality of model looks superb. I have been flying a Longshot 2 for over 5 years so am really looking forward to completing and flying the newer version.
Thanks again…will certainly order more kit through you guys in the future

The Longshot 4 built quickly and easily. Almost all parts needed were included (missed the aileron pushrods). I used a large battery (820 mAHr, 4 triple A NiMH) and a large(ish) 6 channel receiver and was able to balance it with no problem at the recommended 80mm location with no additional weights. Once flown, I chose to move the CG forward about 6mm with a small additional weight in the nose. All up, about 320 grams. In my testing, it launches well and floats well, even though over weight as built. Speed with a slight reflex is great for thermal hunting or exiting sink. All this and much tougher than hollow construction.

Great plane for light wind days. Pretty easy build that could potentially be finished in a day or two. Would be good if it was easier to ballast but that is something to think about while building

Review by: Roy HampshireQuality product and service
Bought the LongShot3 from Neil and as with the other two models ( Elf Mini DLG's) previously purchased it arrived the next day well packaged with no nasty postal damage.
I am about to start building and the quality is great, it is top quality as I and many others have come to expect.
I really can't praise highly enough the service and quality of product Hyperflight provide.
