Description

The KST X08H Plus is a version of the KST X08 Plus servo with horizontal mounting lugs (also called mounting tabs), making it suitable for use in wing and other flying surfaces.The KST X08H Plus is a very light (9.5 g) low/medium/high voltage metal cased servo. It is based on the well regarded KST X08H V5 servo but with a larger motor fitted.

It is especially good for ailerons on F5J gliders, electric racers, and all models with thin flying surfaces. Despite being only 8 mm thick the powerful coreless DC motor and gearing provide good torque and high speed. The X08H Plus can be operated from a voltage as low as 3.8V (1S LiPo) or as high as 8.4V (2S LiPo). KST servos have excellent geartrain machining tolerances, and this servo is completely slop free, and equal to products costing twice as much. Despite not having an -MG moniker this servo has metal gears, and is very tough.

The KST X08H Plus's high torque, good speed, and 8mm thinness make it suitable for many high performance glider, pylon racers and EDF applications. With up to 5.3 kg.cm torque the KST X08 is appropriate for F5J, F5D, F3J and many types of high performance models.

The extreme reliability and performance of these servos also makes them very suitable for use in film and motion picture industry special effect departments. They are also used in robotic, drone, UAV, UAS, academic research, military, and other highly demanding applications.

Great 8mm servos. Use them in all our slopers here on the California coast. Don't like the small can and two thin wires hanging out. But no longer an issue as the new version of the Xo8 is the HS08 A for wings where the above mentioned can is enclosed in the servo body. If you have not tried these, give them a go. Rock solid in your hands and in the air!

I have used the standard sized XO8 servos without problems. This new "Plus" servo has almost twice the power without being much larger. When they work, they work very well with minimal (but not zero) backlash in the gears.

However, I have had 50% failure rates in these servos. The failure is in the electronics, which suddenly fail to respond at all. The cause of the problem is unclear.

Fortunately, the failures occurred while the servos were being used on the flaps, so the failure did not result in the loss of the aircraft. Due to my experience, I would recommend that you avoid using these servos on critical controls like the elevator where reliability is essential.
