Description

The NG - New Generation 2m is a lightweight general purpose high performance model from the Doroshenko stable. The NG2m is a modern design with a slippery airfoil and an excellent finish. It has many innovative features and it is very complete. The lightweight yet strong construction is a joy to handle and the plane should give many years of satisfaction. The new V2 version has a four servo wing allowing separate aileron and flap control, giving more controllability and particularly steeper landing approaches and better control with the flaps down.

All the electric F5J NG2m models in stock have the nose removed (not as shown in the studio photos) and a 32mm firewall fitted, making them suitable for front mounting motors and geared motors. Electric NG2m models can be built light and flown as a 2m F5J type thermal soarer or a higher power motor can be fitted and it can be flown as a warmliner. Similarly its excellent speed range allows pure glider NG2m models to be used on the flat or as a light/medium wind slope soarer.

The NG2m’s pod is a strong all carbon fibre molding with a very generous canopy hatch. This is suitably placed aft allowing generous space for a geared motor installation. Unless the firewall is recessed fitting a rotating case outrunner would be difficult. The long nose of the glider version allows ballast and RC to be fitted a long way forward of the CG, reducing the weight and wing loading. There is a little access hatch on the top near the wing root to simplify connecting the aileron and flap servos. The rear of the fuselage consists of a long but lightweight carbon boom with pushrods (inners and outers) ready fitted. At the rear of the boom a beautifully molded carbon fin and tail mount enclose the internal elevator horn and also incorporate a clever plug-in fin mount. Overall the NG2m’s fin and tail, with its removable fin, hidden elevator connection, and superb attention to aerodynamic design is probably the best I have seen on any model glider. And as it is totally prefabricated it is almost ready to fly, with only the rudder control horn to be fitted.

The two piece wing is molded using spread carbon skin over a Rohacell type foam core. The good surface finish and modern airfoils give it an excellent glide angle and speed range.

The fin and tailplane are nicely molded from lightweight spread carbon over a Rohacell type foam core, and are both light and reasonably strong. The removable fin has a strong oblong spar at its base that locates in a suitable tube in the fuselage rear. The fin is retained in flight with small lengths of clear tape over the join.

The complete accessory pack includes all linkages. Apart from RC only two 20 cm and two 40 cm extension leads (for the aileron and flap servos) will be required to complete the model. No build manual is available but there is useful info in this RCGroups NG 2m thread.

Purchase of NG 2m b2

Next day delivery and arrived in perfect condition in stout box.Model much nicer than Webb page with excellent attention to detail and well thought out. Can highly recommend Hyperflight and this model. Carried out maiden flight today but wind was a bit strong so didn’t get a good test

A great little flyer.

As this was my first carbon model it took me a while to bring the components together to complete. The RC groups website was very helpful when figuring out how to do this. The build quality seemed very good to me, the parts fitted together well and snuggly. The aileron pushrods were a bit too long and had to be shorted, easily done. Possibly because I milled aileron trays like the ones supplied for the flaps Maidened today with absolutely no problems, a beautiful and spritely performance.impressed me. Looking forward to more flights.

The build quality of this model is not what I expect for the price tag. I've also looked at 2 other NG2s at my local club and they had the same defects. 1) the join mid wing where the dihedral is has gaps. It looks like it needed fillering and finishing at the factory. 2) the same defect in the tail boom join; Small bubbles and gaps in the resin join. 3) The wings and tail have a ripple/bumpy effect on them. The NG2 carbon skin looks like an old fashioned window rather than a nice smooth mirror shine. My NAN model has a far better finnish with super smooth wing surfaces. 4) the wing joiner doesn't fit tightly into the wings so wing joiner can twist in the fuselage and the wings can swing horizontally to the fuselage if they're not securely butted up to the fuselage and taped in place. I haven't flown it yet but i can imagine a bit of side slip or bumpy flight in a thermal could twist the wings slightly out of alignment to the fuselage during flight. 5) the carbon weave has gaps in it and areas where the carbon cloth has spread appart or not laid inside the mould with care before applying the resin. On My NAN model the carbon cloth is perfect and has that classic carbon fibre weave pattern to it. I don't think any of these defects will have a significant effect on flight performance. But for the price of £800 for a 2m glider I expected a perfect model with care and attention to detail during its construction. I've kept mine and finished building it now as there aren't really any alternatives that I could see in the 2m wing size category. For other sized models I will be sticking to other brands. It's a shame the orien is more than 2m .

Awesome sport flyer

The first toss to check the trim floated down the field much further than I was expecting. The first motor run easily took the NG vertical with 250 watts. It took virtually no trim to fly with hands-off the controls. The large rudder helps for indicating thermals. I was able to turn steeply in small thermals without stalling. Absolutely loving this model.

The kit was delivered well packed and within days of being ordered.
Superb design and excellent quality of build.
The fully hidden actuation mechanism for the elevator is very impressive and benefitted from a quick squirt of silicone spray on the internal linkage, to smooth out a slight amount of stick/slip.
There are are no build instructions and I have asked Hyoerflight to check with the manufacturer for recommended control throws, etc. C of G was advised on the Hyperflight website.

Very nice plane and surface finish ! Now I'm excited to test this bird in flight :)
