* Colour - fuselage and wing flash:

The Still Racer is a great machine for fast flying. It has a wide speed range, very forgiving flight characteristics, and is a perfect first racer. It is supplied expertly covered in Oracover film with an attractive racing colour scheme, with only the RC and powertrain to install.

The Still's thin but forgiving airfoil as well as the slightly swept forward wing give the model excellent flight characteristics and high speed performance. Thanks to the very clean airframe the model has a good glide angle and landings are easy.

The Still Racer has a carbon-reinforced fiberglass fuselage, a one piece polystyrene/balsa wing, and built-up carbon/balsa tailplane. The Still is agile and strong enough for racing all high G aerobatics.

The kit contains:
  • Light fiberglass fuselage reinforced with carbon
  • One-piece polystyrene-balsa wing with ailerons, locally reinforced with fiberglass, all covered with Oracover®
  • Light structural balsa tail surfaces with carbon spar and leading edge, covered with Oracover®
  • Vinyl CNC cut stickers in imitation carbon design
  • Top quality accessories (servo covers, servo mount, rods, ending ties, control horns, tape for sticking flaps, fiberglass motor mount)
  • Complete assembly manual with step by step illustrations

Bought to replace a very similar and much loved Ď400í sized racer which suffered a structural failure at high speed, (dated from 1998 and had seen various brushed and Nicad power trains before conversion to brushless, Lipo & 2.4gHz in 2009, not mention the odd prang).
The Still has very nice lightweight fuz and wing is impressively stiff, considering the largish aileron servo pockets. Finish of all parts is good, assembly straightforward. I particularly liked that cut-outs for the motor cooling and fin mounted elevator servo were not done, allowing greater flexibility for the builder. With that in mind, I chose to make 2 smaller nose cooling inlets, 1 either side and fitted a (Hyperflight) etched PTFE outer piano wire snake, with elevator servo located just behind the wing bolt. Didnít fancy a permanently fixed tailplane, so mounted a single 2mm insert in the fin and drilled the tailplane centre rib to accept a wide flat head 2mm screw, this combined with a tiny CF peg holds the tailplane in position firmly and allows for tinkering etc.
Power wise Iíve fitted a 3200kv 2838 inrunner turning a 5X5E and 3S, havenít measured but guessing itís around 450W. Flight performance is more than adequate for me, with vertical climb rate and level speed at least as quick as my old model; hope it and me last as long!!!

Excellent quality kit, but quite difficult to to set up the tailplane for incidence, and levelling to match the wing. The mounting area is very small and needs careful tweaking. Once set and epoxied all was well.
Flys like on rails using a Mega 16/15/3 motor on 3s Lipo. Not been brave enough to go to 4s yet but have prop and Lipo ready to go.

Still Racer

Really good quality kit - all fibreglass parts without flaw and filmed parts straight and no wrinkles etc. have not built yet, but it looks pretty easy. cant wait to get flying
