Advised by a friend who knows far more about research aircraft and airflow than me, this is to reduce the disturbance from the slight gap along the control surfaces and will (hopefully) allow better performance on those days with difficult conditions (especially slow landings on a restricted and turbulent landing zone). It's the marginal conditions where some can fly (because they consider these small improvements) and others cannot.
Perfect size for F5J planes, and excellent quality. Service from Hyperflight was exceptional as usual. Thanks again Neil.
have sealed gaps using various techniques and have to say this is as good a way as any - easy to apply, transparent appearance, has just the right amount of stiffness/flex. Used on my emerging Aria. If you are looking to seal those gaps - recommend you give this product a try.
