Soaring Lab's
Cayley F5J is a premium 4m full-house electric thermal soarer developed for high-performance F5J competition and serious thermal duration flying. It is optimised to combine excellent low-speed efficiency, precise handling and strong all-round performance across a wide range of conditions.
The
Cayley is built for pilots who expect more from their gliders. Designed to excel in F5J competition, it is made from premium carbon fibre and engineered for strength, precision and aerodynamic efficiency. Every glider is carefully built to meet the demands of serious flying. The two piece fuselage and four piece wing results in a compact model that is easy to transport and store. Already proving itself in competition, the Cayley is an excellent choice for pilots looking to sharpen their edge and maximise their performance.
With its refined low-drag airframe, all-carbon fuselage and competition-focused wing design, the Cayley is intended for pilots who want strong launch efficiency, excellent float in lift and confident handling when searching over a large area. The wing layout and airframe geometry are aimed at delivering both efficient thermalling and reassuring control when flying at distance.
All HyperFlight Cayley versions are supplied with the IDS wing system installed for a clean, low-drag control setup. Servo trays and IDS trays are installed in the wings, and the fuselage includes the Cayley rod together with the necessary linkages and connectors. This reduces installation work and helps achieve a neat, competition-grade finish.

Weight VersionsThe Cayley is available in different structural weight versions so pilots can choose the airframe best suited to their typical flying conditions.
LightThe Light version is intended for the weakest conditions, where minimum sink and the ability to exploit very small or soft lift are most important. It is best suited to calm mornings, weak thermals and low-wind competition rounds where every gram matters. This is the version for pilots who want the lightest practical setup and maximum sensitivity in gentle air.
RegularThe Regular version offers a balance between low weight and greater everyday versatility. It is well suited to typical UK and European thermal conditions, where some penetration and energy retention are needed without giving away too much light-air performance. For many pilots, this is the most adaptable all-round choice.
StrongThe Strong version is intended for more demanding conditions, including breezier weather, stronger launches and pilots who prefer a more robust airframe. The additional structural margin makes it better suited to higher wind strengths and more aggressive flying, while still retaining the core thermal performance of the Cayley design.
In practice, the lighter versions favour minimum sink and weak-lift efficiency, while the heavier versions offer improved penetration, energy retention and confidence in stronger air. The Cayley can also be ballasted, allowing the flying weight to be tuned further to suit the conditions on the day.
