The Strike 2 and is a lovely 1m mini DLG we are now able to import directly from Ukraine.

The Strike 2 is nicely made using 38 g/m2 Carboline spread carbon, the model is exceptionally light, while also being strong and very rigid, allowing high launches. Still air times of 2 minutes have been reported by strong launchers, and pilots comment on the excellent performance and sweet handling. Its full span ailerons allow camber adjustment in flight, giving it a wide speed range, allowing it to be flown in moderate winds, which is unusual for 1m gliders.

The Strike2's fuselage is a one piece (not pod and boom) design of oval cross section, with the front part made from 2.4GHz friendly glass, and the rear from spread carbon. There is an ample access hatch on the underside, giving good access to the RC installation. Although the aileron servos can be fitted in the wing most builders opt for four servos in the pod to minimise nose weight and yaw inertia. This does make for a cramped installation, and as only instructions available are various online build logs we don't recommend the Strike 2 as a first discus launch glider.

The tailplane (horizontal stabiliser) is bolted onto a small pylon mounted below the boom, and the fin (vertical stabiliser) has a perfectly matching hole molded into it, enabling easy mounting onto the end of the tailboom.

The Strike 2 wing is solid molded with a spread carbon skin over a CNC cut foam core. The wing is a nicely made spread carbon molded structure. It is incredibly light and strong, and has a perfect surface finish. The ailerons are fabricated with a living hinge. The only work required to finish the wings is installing the throwing blade and control horns.

The Strike 2 DLG is supplied with a very complete accessory pack which includes all control horns, pushrod wires, tail torque springs, tail pull cord, a tail mounting pylon, a nice throwing blade and even a useful ply template for setting up wing camber. Now also included is a small glass plate for mounting the servos, and balsa and ply blocks for attaching this plate to the pod. Another improvement requested by HyperFlight is that the manufacturer is now cutting the slots for the aileron pushrods. This eliminates the most difficult part of the RC installation..

See this RCGroups thread for more info. This French thread has some useful photos. This Russian thread shows an installation with aileron servos in the wing. Best build info post here. Also good build photos on FB.

Note the Strike 2 models we are now selling include the HyperFlight logo, not the name of the previous distributor.

Just a great DLG

Just love how this DLG flies, remarkably stable and quick on its feet for a 1m with great agility. It thermals well although finding the settings for easiest turning takes some time. I have flown it in Bft 3-4 wind often and eventually even made some ballast for it to make it up to 20g heavier. The build needs some planning but it's not overly complex if you are familiar with DLG techniques like building single pull control surfaces and getting the flaperon deflections right.

I much prefer a more rearward CoG on this plane, I am currently at 59mm. I set the rudder deflection at 13mm. Also I added quite some snapflap. These settings helped agility but I also find finding and staying in lift a lot easier.

A drawback of this plane might be that the wing dents pretty easily and the tail surfaces tend to break on tough landings. I fly on somewhat rocky ground and had to do some repairs. A good trick to get dents out of the wing is to carefully pour boiling water over them. Also I would get some syringes and laminating epoxy for repairing delamination bubbles on the wing or tails.

All in all a great flying plane that comes close to 1.5m performance, I absolutely adore it Service and shipping to the Netherlands from Neil was great as ever.

Thank you for your help.
I got late with repeated business trips but today I was able to fly for the first time.
I intended to test flight, but I am surprised to go up beautifully.
Production was like a beginner because DLG is the third aircraft, but it was completed with 107 g batteries.
Servo = Hitec HS-5035HD × 4
Lipo = 1 s 300 mAh 112 g (including ballast) CG = 59 mm

Strike2 mini dlg

What a lovely little dlg built in 3 days and very easy to assemble. The install was tight but was easy with the help of the links provided on this page. My setup 4 sd100 spektrum 6 Chanel Rx (with out the hard case) and a enlighten 2cell 200mah lipo. The maiden flight was just a hand lunch and needed no adjustment so went for a Half attempt launch and easy got 20-30m with a few adjustments to flight modes went for full launch and would say 50m easy with good flight time to super light and can fly in strong wind to.
Would I recommend? Yes I would and want to buy another asap just to be greedy on a 200mah 2cel lipo I was getting over 1 hour flight time of launching and flying continuously so will stock up on them for a good days flying. Thank you very much guys at hyper flight for providing us in the UK with such blessed model
