SOAS V3 90cm Ultra Portable Slope Soarer

Given 4 stars for the kit as there was a few issues:
* the balsa sheet containing the laser cut trailing edge parts was too short, so there was a bit missing from them - I had to add a little bit of scrap balsa from the sheet to correct the effected parts
* the centre sheeting only just reached rib 6, so there was minimal contact - corner of sheeting to corner of rib rather than the sheeting laying on the rib fully
* the servo reinforcing plate doesn't sit low enough, causing the balsa centre sheeting to slightly bulge up above the trailing edge - so I thinned the centre sheeting in the area of the servo plate so it laid level and flat.
* no servo hatch covers were supplied, so made my own

Not flown yet, but sure it'll be great based on videos I've seen.

Purchased because I wanted a few gliders that I could carry in a backpack on one of my sports motorcycles and the SOAS looked a perfect candidate.

The kit arrived very quickly and was well packaged. I'd ordered the wing bag too which was neatly folded up inside the box. Construction fairly straightforward with excellent laser - cutting. The downloadable instructions are very good as well as the youtube instructions via Nick Chitty (Thanks to Nick!) You need to be very careful when fitting/gluing the wing ribs to the wing joining tube and spar in the correct order to avoid costly mistakes! I didn't get the 0.8mm servo doubler sheets or the servo covers in my kit but have managed to cobble something together. Looking forward to flying it once all finished!

The 3D printed parts are great for fitting things together. I found that the center sheeting on the upper surface was a 2mm short due to the curve of the upper airfoil. The bottom sheeting fit perfectly. The long piece to be put on the hinge line when butted to the trailing edge sheet moved the control surface to far back so it did not align with the 3D printed tip rib. I removed it and sanded it down to fit the space between upper and lower trailing edge sheets which also allowed it to reach the rib ends. The thin wing profile makes it a challenged to fit the battery and receiver but should make for a fast ship. When all put together the CG was right on the mark with no weight needed. I live the look of the finished ship.

Received last week. Well packaged and made it to the USA without any damage. Have not started the build but looks straight ahead. Video guide should be good help. Look it up on YouTube.
