An elegant design, fantastic detailed plan and laser cut parts in ply and balsa. BUT if you intend to turn this pure glider kit into an electric launch, my advice is wait for the electric fuselage kit to become available.
The fuselage is too narrow for all but tiny in runner motors, and too much internal length is taken up with an unnecessarily long servo tray, leaving insufficient room for lipo, receiver and esc. Of course extensive modifications can get over this lack of internal space, but I understand an E powered version\n is expected soon.

Magic 2This was my second 2m RES (Fresh being the first). The kit is well thought out and laser cut so most parts needed a light sand to remove the charred edges - not an issue and only mention it as I am now building the Purito which is CNC machined so all cuts are clean. There is one major issue with this kit - there are literally no written instructions (at time of review). It is all done by looking at a series of images on a Facebook group. I spent a lot of time figuring it out and still made mistakes. The FB group is responsive to questions and actually the kit is, on the whole, fun and easy to build; I would build another tomorrow. A set of instructions would be the making of this kit, and not everyone has a Facebook account. 4 stars because of this.
I was intrigued by the spoiler set up and liked the idea of saving on the cost of a servo. You can mount 2 servos in the wings but the idea is to have just the one in the fuselage using a looped system of wire or cord that engages the spoilers. It was a little tricky to get set up but it works well.
Flying. First flight I only needed to add a couple of notches of elevator trim with CofG at its furthest forward point and it floated beautifully. Wind is the enemy of this category of glider. If you want to penetrate anything other than a light breeze then you need to add ballast. The model indicates thermals well but unless you are carrying speed it is difficult to get into it if there is moderate breeze or the thermals are booming. Once in then it's up and away. I added 20g of ballast under the wing and an extra 10g on the nose when in competition and finally got it flying right for the conditions.
If you are not a regular builder then I would go for a kit with instructions. Without written instructions I think you are just going to struggle. That said, if you're happy to spend time studying images, fitting and double checking everything then it is a relatively easy plane to build and a joy to fly.

First impressions upon opening the box is a well presented kit with some nice touches. There is a roll of thin plastic to use a plan protector and there is a piece of sand paper stuck to a piece of balsa for a sanding block. The plan is well drawn and clear but missing vital dihedral information. What is lacking is any written instruction. You are directed to the Magic 2 Facebook page where you will find a series of photographs detailing various parts of the build. These are by no means complete and some careful study of the plans, photos and parts are needed before assembly can begin. If you are an old hand balsa basher then this should not present any difficulties but I wouldn't recommend this model as a first build. As of this moment I have built the tail, elevator and wing tip panels with the centre panel and fuselage to go and it has all gone together well.
