Hot Shot 2 Flying ReviewFinal flying weight was just under 350g with a 1100mAh LiPo battery. Been out half a dozen times on the slope despite the winter weather in sub 10mpg winds and very pleased.
Yesterday out in a northerly that was forecast to be 10mph with thermals, but was in fact over 20pmh most of the time with white fluffy clouds so mega lift. Lost sight of it 3 times and had to emergency descend. Loops, near axial rolls, stall turns, bunts, inverted (sort of) and good penetration in a +20mph wind.
Set up:-
• ADH330S (21g) motor driving 6x4 prop produces 250g thrust for about 6 mins
• 2 x KST X06 servos for spring and pull to rudder / elevator running in Hyperflight’s PTFE tubes located up front as close to the motor as possible
• Hyperflight’s 11A ESC (2g) no BEC so you can monitor the actual 2S voltage located under the servos
• 1100mAh LiPo battery 11x23x90mm (often used by Airsoft guns)
• FrSky Rx under the wing with antenna exiting either side for fuz
• 2 x KST X08 servos for elevators in wing with a compression contact wing connector
• Fin attached to boom in traditional DLG fashion with a slot / fiberglass / epoxy and a small stub below the boom (rather than the carbon pins in the kit)
Overall very pleased with the end result. Looking forward to the summer on the slope.

Hot Shot 2 F5K 1.5mI found more details on the Horejsi.cz web site that show how they expect it to be built.
Build sketch https://horejsi.cz/DataFiles/1606_HS2/HS2_vykres.gif
Build photos https://horejsi.cz/PhotoGallery/1606_hotshot2/HS_sequence_CZ.htm
The build phots shows the servo pockets in the wing behind the main spar, whereas mine are in front like the Longshot. My balsa tail feathers were pre sanded and didn’t need any sanding. Nice balsa. Wings excellent with very thin trailing edge.
The build sketch shows the tail servos mounted under the tailplane with a 45g motor, 9x5 prop that results in a 500g flying weight. This isn’t exactly what I am after.
My objective is a lightweight slope model for those summer afternoons when you know there’s thermal activity. I am using the ADH330S (21g) motor, Hyperflight’s 11A ESC (2g) with a 6x4 prop and 2S stick 650mAh LiPo (31g) that produces 250g thrust for about 3 mins. I have the smallest KST servos mounted up front in the pod for the tailfeathers with a spring / string set up. This means the battery can be installed way back under the wing so you can adjust the C of G without adding lead. So far the target flying weight is 344g, but I expect it with creep up a little from there.
Overall pleased with the quality of the kit and enjoying the build. Looking forward to the summer.
