The Yoda 1.5m DLG is the latest design from Joe Wurts, master glider designer and pilot, and Vladimir's Models, with unparalleled technology, craftsmanship, and expertise in composite and production engineering. The Yoda DLG is uniquely a 6 servo polyhedral winged DLG, with separate flap and aileron surfaces.

The Yoda DLG is the best DLG for top pilots: Best thermaling due its polyhedral wing; best penetration due to professionally designed airfoils, best speed range with an extra wide flap, and highest launch due low drag optimization.

The Yoda is also the best for regular pilots. You will add 1 min to your flight time easily: Easy handling, like a F5J glider due to the polyhedral wing. Easy to thermal because the Yoda signals lift much more clearly than a straight dihedral wing model. Easy return to home because Yoda has a great glide angle and is very stable in cruise. Easy to land on the spot or catch because descent control is precise and it slows down better.

The following is a quote from Joe Wurts: "I have very high hopes for this design. In the air it is a wonderful thing to fly. Personal opinion is that this plane is a very large gain for the sport pilot as it is so easy to fly. The high end pilot, they know how to fly very well and can accept lower handling qualities so the objective performance gains are not as high. There are some small objective gains, the larger gains are due to the ease in flying more optimally. ... The improvement in flying qualities is not a trivial change. The recreational pilot will enjoy this change even more than the hard-core competitive pilot IMO."

The Yoda is superbly implemented by Vladimir's Models with perfect surface finish, an ultra strong and rigid structure, and attractive colour options. Four servos are mounted in the fuselage, with only the aileron servos mounted in the wing. The fin is removable to help with storage and transport. In the prototype planes the RC is powered by a 2S LiPo battery that has been opened up to make two cells one behind the other. Other configurations will also be possible.

All the models stocked are for right-handed throwers and without RC installed. We will obtain other configurations to special order.

Fantastic glider

This is my first R/C glider in some 25 years, I used to fly a lot of winch launched and slope soaring gliders, as well as other R/C, so felt fairly confident in leaping in at the expensive end on DLG. The kit arrived reasonably soon considering the shortage and demand as I ordered soon after it was first released. It's well built, nay fantastically built to a very high standard of finish, and nearly everything has already been done for you. A few evenings of work will see you finish the build in short order. The manual was clear and easy to follow. The greatest difficulty I had was in setting up the radio. This is partly due to my own lack of OpenTX familiarity and partly because DLG templates online all cater for single flaperons each side. Luckily I got some very useful help from PaulR on Barcs who knows a lot more about OpenTX and adapted some of Mike Shellim's work. That template was brill for me. I didn't expect how delicate the DLG model was, and PaulR reported the same. My guess is that all high performance DLGs are somewhat delicate, and that perhaps the Yoda is still slightly more. It's definitely cutting edge and brought the envy on from other Barcs F3K pilots. It handles and flies very nicely, even for someone who is fairly rusty like myself. (I have flown FPV drones quite a lot recently, but they are very different to fixed wing). I've managed quite a few thermal flights even in the bad weather we've had this summer. Last time I was out I got 15 minutes of thermal time on my first throw.
