The VM F3K DLGComposite Model Repair Kit is a very comprehensive pack of composite materials to facilitate the repair of smaller composite RC models, but F3K type discus launched gliders.

Included in the kit are:
  • 30 cm x 20 cm SC39/2/45 Carboline 39 g/m2 spread carbon for wing repair
  • 30 cm x 20 cm woven carbon fabric, approx 200 g/m2 weight for fuselage repair and local reinforcement
  • 30 cm x 20 cm woven glass fabric, approx 163 g/m2 weight for 2.4 GHz friendly repair
  • 32 cm x 6.3 cm carbon moulded DLG wing front
  • 10 cm x 5 cm x 2 cm Rohacel foam core
  • 10 cm unique VM hinge repair material
  • 3 m carbon tow/roving 1600 TEX for spar repair and local reinforcement.

Wing 1 min repair
Cut the DLG wing front to the size of the hole with scissors and tape it around the hole with strong self-adhesive tape.

Wing 15 min repair
Cut the DLG wing front to the size of the hole with scissors. Sand the d-box inside with sandpaper for better adhesion. Sand a place for d-boxing on the wing for better adhesion. Glue the d-box with glue (CA or epoxy).

VM hinge repair material
It is unique combination of Kevlar hinge material and ultra-high module carbon.
The material has a scratch in the carbon in hinge place already.
- cut a strip about 10 mm long with scissors;
- glue the strip to the repair spot (Kevlar side to the wing) with CA glue (superglue). Make sure scratch in the carbon is exactly matches the flap hinge.
- Break the glue inside the Kevlar in the hinge area and move a new hinge several time by hand. (it is advisable to disconnect the servo rod)

Carboline SC39 2/45
- Pre-restore the geometry of the wing using Rohacell or other material.
- Mark the repair spot with paper tape so that the rest of the wing will be not dirty. And cut a piece of Carboline preform 5mm smaller than the marked spot.
- Apply epoxy resin to the repair spot.
- Put the preform on top of the resin at the repair site. Use your finger to push the entire area of the preform so that the resin impregnates carbon completely. If necessary, add resin from the outside.
- Soak out excess resin with a paper towel. It should seem to you that the carbon is completely dry.
- cover the area with polythene sheet (not supplied) and apply pressure if possible to give a smooth shiny surface. Remove after epoxy sets.
- If desired, after the resin polymerization, fill and paint the repair spot, but this will add a lot of weight.
