Description

The Shinto Electric is a great new electric glider optimised for speed! It excels at fast sport flying, triangle racing, and F3G electric multitask comp events while also being a great multipurpose soarer. Although designed primarily as a slope racer, in its electric form it becomes a fast thermal soarers and very impressive sports model. Aeronautical design is by Max Steidle, a highly regarded aero engineer, with input from Stefan Eder. Structural design and manufacture is by Vladimir's Models. All our Shinto Pro's are ready fitted with servo frames and IDS servo linkages to speed assembly, and come with excellent quality wing and V tail bags. These are extras from other suppliers.

The wing is a two piece hollow molded structure with a very substantial spar and joiner system. The wing skin is a Carboline spread carbon - Rohacell - Carboline sandwich, with a strong carbon spar and carbon sandwich shear web.

Shinto wing construction

All our Shintos are supplied with IDS (stands for Inegrated Drive System, also called LDS for Linear Drive System on Vladimir's site) frames installed in the wings with ready to connect linkages for the flap and aileron servos. These beautifully engineered Integrated Drive Systems allow the servo to be dropped into place in the pre-fitted frame. A pre-fitted pushrod of optimal length and geometry is already connected to each of the control surfaces, massively simplifying the installation. This system utilises an external bearing built into each servo's mounting frame, increasing control rigidity, reducing servo forces, and improving the structural integration of the servo in the wing. It also allows the servo to be removed easily for servicing or replacement if required. All models are fitted with IDS frames and pushrods. The servos required are listed with the colour scheme below the price.

Shinto wing joiner construction

The Shinto wing joiner is made of carbon prepreg in a steel mold with high pressure and cured at a temperature of 130 deg C. The wing joiner has ballast compartments for mounting 670 g of the steel or lead ballast.

The Shinto fuselage is laminated in an aluminium mold using a pressure balloon. The forward part is made of Kevlar and high modulus glass, and is 2.4GHz friendly. The rear part is laminated using high modulus carbon fiber. The control rods are installed already. A beautiful V-tail horn carbon hatch is supplied. The translucent Shinto canopy is made of plastic with the Shinto and VM logo molded in, to look good and give reinforcement. The Shinto Electric is supplied the motor firewall ready fitted.

The Shinto V-tail is a spread carbon sandwich construction. The stabilizers fit perfectly to the fuselage and the elevator horns are installed and hidden by the tailcone fairing. The stabilizers and wings must be secured to the fuselage with tape after assembly.

Shinto Electric 3m Hotliner with wing bags

The Shinto E-Pro is a fabulous 3m hotliner. I wanted the most powerful setup that would physically fit and after checking Youtube and confirming with Neil I copied Ronald Vogler's Powerline 1520/10 motor with the YGE65 ESC. The motor gearbox is a really snug fit in the tapered fuselage to the extent I had to remove a good deal of the adhesive that Vladimir's used on the back of the pre installed motor mount. A painstaking task but well worth it. This is a 4S setup and after a lot of research the largest lipo i could find to fit is 1000mA capacity. Everything supplied fits perfectly. A nice surprise is the included wing servos wiring harnesses and the wing, tail and fuselage bags are a quality finishing touch. The V tail servos location needs to be thought through but with patience is well worth it. The recommendations from Stefan Eder are excellent and with a 91mm CG mine needed just 20g of lead in the tail pod. I maidened it yesterday and not one click of trim was required. It Flies beautifully. Not cheap but you get what you pay for, quality workmanship! I am absolutely delighted and thank you to Neil and the team for your advice and delivery. Highly recommended.

Held up in French customs but got to me pristine.

I am reviewing the box! Strong and correct in every way. It was obvious the contents were 100% good by the pristine box, which took a few weeks to pass through French customs. Excellent boxing protecting a lovely Shinto.
