The Osprey 3000 REF & Full House Electric is a great new 3m glider.

We have this model in Rudder-Elevator-Flap (REF) and Rudder-Elevator-Flap-Aileron (full house) versions.

See the glider version info below for more info.

The Osprey 3000 RES is a beautiful new 3 m glider which is a delight to look at and a joy to fly. Its excellent aerodynamics make it a stable and easy to fly model with impeccable thermal performance, and a surprisingly good speed range.

Like its predecessor the Circle Dancer 3000 this models is a beautifully constructed balsa and carbon almost ready to fly version of the venerable Bubble Dancer by Dr Mark Drela. The RES appellation indicates that this version is controlled using Rudder/Elevator/Spoiler controls. The wing has generous dihedral and a large central spoiler fitted, keeping to the intent of the Drela design. The Osprey 3000 RES has beautifully built wing with a substantial carbon spar and carbon DBox, making it rigid and strong enough for a sensible winch launch.

The fine fuselage consists of a lightweight Kevlar, glass, and carbon pod molding with a small pylon for mounting the wing above the fuselage, to reduce interference drag. The fuselage nose incorporates a large (18 cm long) hatch to allow easy access to the battery, receiver, rudder and elevator servos. The hatch is very nicely molded from carbon fibre and incorporates a positive attachment system. The fuselage has a molded carbon tailboom incorporating a small pylon for the tailplane/horizontal stabiliser. The pushrod outers are bonded in place, and all the tail pushrod hardware is supplied.

The tailplane is a feather weight built-up balsa and carbon construction, covered with lightweight transparent film and is supplied ready to bolt onto the rear pylon mount. The tailplane includes a ready hinged elevator for faster pitch response.

The Osprey 3000 RES wing is expertly constructed from balsa and carbon, with beautifully applied transparent film covering, in contrasting colours. The centre panel incorporates a large spoiler to give good approach control. The centre and mid panels include carbon Dbox structural elements which considerably strengthen and stiffen the wing, allowing the model to be flown at higher speed and in windier conditions. The standard of construction is excellent, and the prefabrication is very complete. The only things left to do are gluing the tailboom to the pod, installing the control surface control horns, fabricating linkages for the spoiler, and fitting the RC, battery and towhook.

Osprey 3000 REF

Delivery was fast! 4 days to South Carolina. Wow! Arrived in perfect condition, packed very well in a large, sturdy cardboard box. The quality of construction is excellent. I dry fitted everything together and the plane is beautiful. I look forward to the build, which looks to be fairly easy for this novice builder, and to the maiden flight. I could not be happier with my purchase.

Osprey 3000 full house performance

Was looking for a model I could use on small forest covered mountain within walking distance from home. The obstacle being the landing environment is 5x10 metres (OK!) however surrounded by several high threes making landing approach impossible... However, installed LDS frames and MKS 6100 servos for a 90 degree down flap movement. Did not use the supported LDS plastic control rod, but instead used original supplied linkage system together with M2 soft steel rods for flexible damage control on poor landings. However, this model proved its brilliant braking abilities on mentioned spot, and diving into the landing spot without conflicting the three-line was no problem. The model is super easy to pick up thermals and smallest slope lift. Ended up with CG almost 10mm behind the recommended... but adjusted control-travels down accordingly, this to have super-sensitive lift indication... No nasty tendencies... For drivetrain used Reisenauer micro edition gear with TenshockViper 1020-14T 4 pol 4550KV, 5:1, Jeti Spin44 pro bec and RF 12X6 prop. Did buy 2pc 3s 2100lipos, however ended up using a 3S1800 as it will give me typically 2 hours flight on mentioned mountain even in poor lift conditions. As the landing zone has many small bushes as well, I did order transparent film at later stage for rep-job when I fail to catch the model in my hand... All in all making flights possible and enjoyable on a least to say user-hostile flight spot, now possible without any car drive from home... Recommended...
