The Nan Explorer 3 was based on previous Explorer gliders and became a top contest winning F3J thermal duration model in its time. The wing was designed for higher speed and very dynamic flight characteristics. The wing profile is the same as the Explorer 2, a proven World Championship winning model.
The fuselage length was increased and the tailplane and fin redesigned to improve handling and thermal performance in this version.
