Big vik dlgThis is the first time iv used hyperflight and they are a pleasure to deal with. My new big vik dlg arrived very quick and was well packed. The model was quick and easy to build although I had to learn new skills to build such a light and small model. Hyperflight where more than happy to help thank you every one.

Big VickI would recommend the Big Vick as THE beginner DLG or better, THE beginner plane in general.
Here’s why:
You don’t have to worry about charged batteries or broken rubber, don’t need a winch, just throw and fly. So you can spend a lot of time outside and practice. So did I during the Covid summer. In two weeks, I gathered around 2500 take-offs and landings. Do that with any other plane…
The parts are very well thought out and manufactured. The plane is easy to assemble, even for a beginner. Just take your time and read the manual carefully, or look it up on Youtube.
Flying is awesome. I came from a WhipIt and noticed, in comparison, that you really have to fly the Vick with both rudders. I quickly progressed from nose first “precision” landings to coming in smooth, using the ground effect. The Vick is a rather sturdy model. I even managed to land with a broken boom. Fixes can be made quickly.
If your primary goal is thermaling, build it as light as you can. Mine came out at 165g (I messed up the wing and had to put 10g in the nose), that is a bit too heavy to go up in weak thermals, but it’s convenient with a little wind and on the slope. Pay extra attention to the wing covering, especially at the wing tips. Poor covering and crumpled edges cost a lot of performance!
You should consider to tape some 0,5mm steel wire to the leading edge (under the covering), to protect it from damage. The nose can be made out of solid balsa, armored with CA.
All in all a great plane!

Big VickBrilliant little kit which makes into a nice fly weight model. Ordered 2 and put ailerons in 1 wing and still came in at around 95gr AUW. Will stay up on the proverbial knats F***. Ideal for late evening when the others have to land and go home.
Brilliant service as usual from Neil always a pleasure to receive high quality gear from Hyperflight.

Nice ProjectThis is a nice glider to tinker with. I oriented myself on the manual of the Slingshot V5 to add some elevons to the build. It still has a good glideslope with 180g flightweight (and a 5g screw in the news).
The manual could be clearer with how to attatch the string to the servos and wing attatchment.
I recommend buying two. One to train building on and one to build right.

Very niceVery nice little model!
A delight to assemble. Finished structure is heavier than stated in the specs above, but sill feather-feeling.

Big Vick BuildJust finished the build. Maiden flight remains. Definetely not for beginners, but I'm not.( I am 70 now, built models since 10)
You learn a lot about different glue types, and about tape covering.
I have a very small 4ch receiver, two 4,3 g servos, a 5V boost converter (saved from a powerbank). With a 750mAh 1S (AA cell) total weight is 127 g and CG is about right.
Looking forward to the maiden, Fun to build, tricky to install pull-string control though. Recommend the kit. Good starting model to learn DLG before you take next step in the hobby.

Good entry level planeNice plane. Easy and fun to build. Instructions could be better but there is a lot to find on the web.
I highly recomend this plane.

Quality, Fun and a bargain!Perfect for me to try DLG, the quality of the wire cut parts is great. Fast assembly and surprising flying capabilities. Will probably buy another before investing in an Elf.
