Unique FlyerI was drawn to this due to the unique design, appearance, and graceful yet agile flights I saw on videos. I knew it wasn't going to be the best "DLG" in a thermal hunting role as it is, to my knowledge, a slope soarer that can also be DLG launched. In my opinion it weighs too much for a thermal hunter. The weight I think comes from the robust construction, which I very much appreciate given my numerous rough landings.
First impressions are that this is a high quality (fit/finish) model. Follow the build instructions (CG/rates/expo) and you’ll be setup for success. This is my first “wing” so the travel limits(rates) didn’t make sense to me. I’m not too proud to admit I made the mistake of not following the travel limits when I set it up. On my maiden flights, I didn’t realize the flight characteristics I was seeing were my own fault due to higher rates than prescribed in the instructions. In hind sight, I was stalling the bird from too much elevon. Upon reducing to the prescribed amount, it flew perfectly. Sort of counter intuitive for me coming from traditional flight surface aircraft.
I have yet to slope soar this, but have no doubt it will perform as it should. I have a lot of DLG flights that keep me excited. My best throw (side arm) is about 30m. It’s not light by any means. Not sure if I just built heavy, but mine is tipping the scales at about 360g with a 2S 650mah battery (48g) and another 50ish g of tungsten putty. The prescribed CG requires a lot of nose weight.
I damaged the original (Slope/DLG) tail and replaced with the E-Alien version and haven’t noticed any negative traits even when DLG launching this. Maybe something for OA to consider given the higher than normal landing speeds that will likely lead to the eventual tail damage.
I would recommend this to anyone that has a slope or dune, but you can still have lots of fun as a DLG, just won’t get the long flight times of traditional DLGs.
I love this one so much I bought the E-Alien also.
Also, if you've never ordered from HyperFlightUK, understand that the order fulfillment and shipping are fast. 3 days from order to my door in the U.S.

Kit arrived with parts missing . No servo covers or wing fixings . One of the expensive servos does not centre correctly.. the holes in the wing did not line up with the fuselage so a bit of messing around with that. Have not flown it yet as I need to buy another servo 😔. Not my best experience so far .

A 'Friday afternoon' kitWell, a follow up to my previous review. I've never had a premium moulded glider before wirh so many issues. The wing is made of two layers of carbon cloth laid at 90 degrees to each other - halfway along one wing half, the top carbon layer was split apart, leaving a 1/4in line across the wing with only one layer of cloth. A worrying strength issue. A detailed check of the bag of bits - a wing fixing bolt was missing and the two elevon push rod wires were different lengths, one just too short. Lesson - do not rely on the wire measurements in the instructions as they were certainly wrong for my kit. Having bent one pushrod to the stated dimensions, it didn't fit, so I had to re-make it using my own wire. The other piece of wire was too short, so I also had to replace that. So overall, not a great kit of parts + instructions for something costing this much. I only hope it flies OK once the rain stops.

Nice little DLG/sloperArrived quickly and undamaged (nice packing Hyperflight!). On inspection, a small section of the carbon cloth weave on the wing upper surface was misaligned, which was a shame as it rather draws the eye even if the build strength doesn't seem affected. Overall, however, a nice kit of parts, and as soon as the delayed rudder servo arrives I'll get building. Can't wait!

AlienAgain short waiting for the pakkingen, thanks Neil. Piece of art and crafts , well designet. Good manual too. Well along my way to bilder this plane ......but arter glueing in the ballasttube I tried to put in a 100gr weigt white holding the rudderservo with mount several times , no way. Do I misunderstand the way of loading ? PS I fond 21 krone-coins and a regularitet 3mm bolt to put trough and voila a perfekt 100gr load ready for use ( and easy to adjust for preferance) So welcome to Norway to get these coins :):)
I build my rudder movement by pushrod ( Carbon 1mm of course ) by the way, after som flutter trouble in other light models in speedy movements.
So nice to read all the warnings for accurate building ....... it gratifies the gratifies the quality of this plane I think. Looking forward to my first flights , Fred

Thanks àgain to Neil for keeping this great hobby supplied with so many quality items, Alien arrived in 24 hrs after purchase well boxed, Build instruction very clear, Accuracy is key to this Model . Have built with recommended servos and lipo. Time taken around 5 hrs total, Alien fly's very well no nasty surprise. 2mm up trim on elevons for normal flight zero for speed or when conditions suit , flown in 5 knot and 12 knot winds aerobatic and good speed thermalization really love this model worth every penny , many thanks to are Ukraine Friend's

Alien sloperthis is my first carbon build and its very simple. the instructions are clear and the 3D printed parts fit perfectly. It's a well thought out machine and I drilled a bore in a copper cylinder to fit in the ballast tube for 30g and 50g slugs. As a left handed flyer, the fin hinge is on the left hand side so that's something to be aware of if you're wanting it for a left hand launch dlg. as usual impeccable service from Neil.

Looks StunningAs a kit designer and manufacturer I was really excited to see the Alien appear on Hyperflight, and it was a must have toy. Its not often I take the plunge on a model I didn't design myself and really happy I did. Whilst the build hasnt started yet due to other commitments the quality of the components and the fit and finish is exceptional and more that meets my own expectations. I fully intend to do a mini review of the model when I start construction and will share my findings with Neil.
