Alf 1m DLG
Description
Following the success of the Pug glider, AngelWing Designs has developed the Alf 1m DLG as a larger, more capable model for pilots looking to progress into the 1 metre class discus launch gliders.Developed in collaboration with Nick Chitty, the Alf is designed to combine straightforward construction, predictable handling and useful thermal performance in a compact and practical package.The model uses traditional lightweight balsa construction together with carbon fibre and 3D-printed components, giving a good balance of low weight, stiffness and ease of assembly.Dihedral and Polyhedral Option
The kit includes the parts required to build the wing in either of two configurations. The conventional dihedral version gives good stability, easy handling and a quicker build, while the polyhedral version is intended to provide a flatter turning style and improved thermal manoeuvrability. Both options are included in the kit, so the builder can choose the configuration that best suits their preference.Easy to Transport
The ALF has a two-piece wing and removable horizontal tailplane, allowing the model to be packed down into a very small space for transport and storage. This makes it particularly convenient for travelling, holidays, or keeping in the car for opportunistic flying.Spring-Pull Controls
The control system uses a lightweight spring-pull arrangement, with a pull-for-up elevator configuration. This gives precise, no-slop control and avoids elevator blowback during high speed discus launches. The fuselage layout is suitable for a range of small servos, allowing flexibility in radio installation.Custom Carbon Tail Boom
The ALF uses a custom spiral-wrapped carbon fibre tail boom developed in conjunction with HyperFlight. The boom has been designed to provide the required stiffness for discus launching while keeping rear-end weight low.Alf Benefits
