Longshot 3 DLG
Product Code: LONGSHOT-3
Description
Longshot 3 DLG
The well regarded Longshot 3 is a good value entry level molded 1.5m DLG the Longshot-3 is very tough and easy to fly, making it a great trainer. The Longshot 3 uses up to date composite construction methods, and a modern Drela airfoil, which keeps it light and gives it excellent performance.
The Longshot3 DLG is a substantial improvement on the Longshot 2, with better aerodynamics and a molded glass / foam / glass wing, with lots of carbon in the right places. The Longshot’s fuselage is a carbon/Kevlar molding with a lightweight rolled carbon tailboom that is long (for good stability) and very stiff (for high launches). The R/C is accessed though a handy canopy hatch, and the wings are bolted onto the low pod, keeping the frontal area to a minimum. The tail is ready finished in blue foam with lightweight glass skin. The tailplane is conveniently removable for no fuss transportation. It is mounted on a nicely prefabricated carbon pylon that is glued to the boom. The Longshot’s very smooth low drag wing is supplied in two pieces and is easily joined using the supplied carbon reinforcements, and is painted with flashes of colour on the tips. The strong carbon spar ensures the model can be safely launched to 40m or more, giving dead air times of around a minute. All the linkages are provided, only glue and the RC gear needs to be supplied by the builder.
The easy build, benevolent flying characteristics, and tough construction all make the Longshot 3 an excellent introduction to discus launched gliders. See some build photos here.
