The Circle Dancer 2000 RES is a great Almost Ready To Fly 2m F3-RES type model with an excellent pedigree. The model is supplied fully built and superbly covered, but does not include any RC. It is available with either an electric or a glider fuselage - see the Fuselage option below the Colour option.

Like the Circle Dancer 3000 and 3600 models it is expertly constructed, and beautifully covered in Oracover Light. By the time you have added in the covering and glue costs it is not much more expensive than one of the build-it-yourself-in-a-few-months kits.

The fuselage consists of a wooden pod with a large access hatch ready-fitted with securing magnets. At the font of the glider version the beautifully carved nose block has been hollowed to take lead shot nose weight. The front of the electric version's pod has a ply 33 mm diameter firewall with holes ready drilled on 14 mm and 19 mm diameters. Inside the pod a plywood tray has been installed for screwing the rudder and elevator servos too. The servos can be up to 24 mm long by 12 mm wide. The pod includes nuts to take the wing mounting screw and fittings to take the supplied adjustable tow hook. The carbon tailboom cleverly slides into the read of the pod and locates into a rear bulkhead, and a beautifully implemented carbon fairing streamlines it to the rear of the pod. A pylon for mounting the tailplane is molded into the rear of the tailboom, together with flats for the fin to be glued to. The tailboom also has been fitted with low friction plastic pushrod outer tubes and wire pushrods.

The all balsa fin includes a large rudder for good directional control. The tailplane is similarly constructed and both are attractively shaped, giving the model a charming look.

The wing centre panel incorporates a substantial spruce spar and top surface forward sheeting to minimise drag. The centre panel incorporates a large spoiler for accurate landing and safely exiting strong thermals. The spoiler servo can be up to 10 mm thick. The ends of the centre panel have magnets built in to keep the tip panels in place. The tip panels are more lightly built and use front riblets to help maintain the correct forward airfloil shape. The tip panels are attached to the centre panel with a beautifully molded carbon dihedral brace.

The accessory pack includes the adjustable tow hook, control surface horns and other small fittings. The spoiler is designed to be actuated by a long spoiler servo output arm. The tail surfaces are intended to be connected directly to the wire pushrods with L bends. No clevises are supplied or needed in our opinion, but a keeper will be required to ensure the L bends don't become detached.

The only work required to finish the model is gluing the boom into the pod, the fin onto the end of the tailboom, the rudder and elevator horns and installing the RC. This should only take a couple of evenings.

The quality of the workmanship used for building and covering the model cannot be overstated. It really is a tour-de-force of balsa construction. In particular how the nose block is covered with no seems showing is beyond me. The covering job is beyond amazing.

A week balsa structure horizontal- stabilizer.

It needs some reinforcement for the soft balsa structure horizontal stabilizer! I think that it need the combination a vertical balsa wood and a side grain balsa wood to build the stab. I think it is better to bury 1mm carbon rod near the leading and trailing both sides edge of the stab. it needs device to linkage rod with horn size as you can possible. Because it is not smooth action. I changed the linkage for DLG music wire & bondable tube with white tube included this model. Also, as always with hyperflight shipments, it arrived in the Japan quickly, well packaged, and without damage.

Circle Dancer 2000 RES

This is a competitive F3-RES sailplane. Please note: due to the composite boom fairing, and the fin mount, some CDs may not allow this sailplane in their F3-RES events. Our club sees these as "non-performance enhancing" items, so it is not an issue at our contests. Check with your local CD. I purchased the ARF version of this sailplane, which was well constructed, with a very nice covering job. Only a few hours were needed to assemble and install the radio gear. This model launches high, floats well, is good at signaling lift, and still able to penetrate wind effectively without adding ballast. FYI, I did need to move the CG forward of recommended CG range to get the best overall performance from this model. Also, as always with hyperflight shipments, it arrived in the US quickly, well packaged, and without damage.
