Supra-e Pro Competition Glass

Product Code: SUPRA-E-COMP
Description

Supra-e Pro Competition Glass

*** A new ligher spar and layup has reduced the weight by circa 200g ***

The Supra-e Pro Competition Glass has the standard F3J Supra Competition Glass, wing and tail, with an electric fuselage, making it suitable for all types of electric r/c thermal soaring competitions. This version has a winchable wing with a full F3J strength carbon spar and is capable of aerobatics and high energy flight and the new drag-reducing narrow pod. We can order versions with both the built-up "Competition" and the classic molded tail surfaces to suit modellers who want the minimum weight, or a sexier all molded model.

The benefits of this version are:
  • Full strength T800 wing spar sized to withstand the forces required for two man F3J tows! Apart from allowing the wing to be used for F3J events it also means massive dives and high G aerobatics can be performed safely.
  • Supplied with a lightweight wiring loom for the fuselage and wing connections.
  • Fuse pod designed for a geared electric motors with a removable canopy hatch for easy access to the batteries and motor.
  • Built-up tail benefits: Ultralight fin with built-up rudder, and built-up tailplane (horizontal stabiliser). This is lighter and slightly larger, improving stability and reducing inertia, at the expense of being a little less robust.
  • Molded tail benefits: Stronger low drag molded fin and rudder, modified to allow the tail servos to be rear mounted, to give more space for the powertrain in the pod, and to aide with correct centre of gravity placement. Stronger low drag molded tailplane (horizontal stabiliser). Fin, rudder and tailplane match the fuselage and wing colour.

These improvements will allow the plane to excel al thermal soaring competitions, but also to be used for fun flying. This more versatile version will be attractive to pilot who prefer a stronger airframe that works well in all flying conditions.

The wing skin is a very rigid and tough glass/rohacell/glass sandwich with special high modulus T800 carbon spar.

Supra Glass molded wing construction

The model is supplied with wing connection plugs and sockets and partial wiring harness for connecting up the tail servos. See the Supra-e Servo Harness product page.

Supra Nomenclature - these are the various terms used to describe the different versions
Classic The original fatter pod, with a removable nose cone.
Pro The new longer, slimmer drooped pod - used on all glider Supras. Now suplied on most electric models. Only very small (Speed 400 size/25mm diameter) geared motors can be fitted.
Competition The model is fitted with a built-up tailplane (horizontal stabiliser) and rudder. This results in a slight reduction in tail weight, reducing the model's total weight and inertia.
Ulralite The wing has a reduced strength spar and glass wing skins - lightest, but suitable for low energy electric flight only.
Spread Carbon The SC (also called ST for Spread Tow) wing has a full strength F3J spar and spread carbon wing skins - very light and very strong.
Glass The wing has a full strength F3J spar and all glass wing skins - light.
Carbon/Glass The wing has a full strength F3J spar and carbon skins on the centre panel, and glass wing skins on the tip panel - medium weight.
Carbon The wing has a full strength F3J spar and all carbon wing skins - heavier, but very strong.
